About Anne

A small Amsterdam bakery with a long memory

Anne began with one oven, one canal-side window and a simple idea: bake the Dutch classics properly, every single morning. Our appeltaart follows a family recipe from Noord-Holland, our bread is slow-fermented overnight, and our stroopwafels are pressed while you wait.

Explore Anne and discover the flavours, traditions and atmosphere that make every visit special — from the smell of butter and cinnamon at opening time to the quiet corner tables where locals read the paper long after their coffee has cooled.

For visitors

A Delicious Stop During Your Amsterdam Visit

Amsterdam is a city best seen slowly: on foot, along the water, with a pause whenever something smells good. Anne is that pause. As a traditional Dutch bakery a few steps from the Nine Streets and the Jordaan, we are an easy detour between museums, markets and canal walks — and a far friendlier introduction to Dutch food than any queue on a busy square.

Visit Anne in the morning for warm croissants and a flat white, or arrive mid-afternoon for appeltaart with cream while the light drops over the canal. Our Dutch pastries are made in small batches, so what you taste was almost certainly baked a few hours earlier. If you only try one thing, make it the apple pie or a stroopwafel pressed to order.

Explore Anne at your own pace: sit inside among the green panelling and brass lamps, or take a bag of fresh pastries with you towards Westerkerk. Guests looking for somewhere calm to start the day often plan your visit around opening time, before the first tour boats pass.

Discover more of what makes a small Amsterdam bakery worth crossing the city for, and find Anne in Amsterdam on your map before you set out — we are easier to reach than you think.
